# What is Glif?

Glif is a creative agent for producing marketing content at scale. Give it a brief, your brand and your raw material, and it delivers launch-ready ads, product imagery, social carousels, video and audio. You describe what you need; Glif picks the right AI models, chains the steps together and keeps everything in one place.

Glif uses 100+ models from providers including OpenAI, Google, Black Forest Labs, ByteDance, Kling, MiniMax and ElevenLabs, so you don't need separate tools for images, video, voice and music.

## What marketing teams use Glif for

* **Paid social and display ads:** static ads, video ads and UGC-style creatives for Meta, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn and Google placements
* **Every size from one ad:** resize a finished ad to 9:16, 4:5, 16:9, 1:1 and 1.91:1 in one step
* **Product photography:** studio, white-background, lifestyle, flat-lay and on-model shots for ads, landing pages and marketplaces
* **Social content:** Instagram carousels, Reels, TikToks and thumbnails
* **Video:** product demos, promos, explainers and short brand films with voiceover, captions and music
* **Creative testing:** many variations of hooks, visuals and copy from one brief
* **Copy:** headlines, primary text and CTAs to go with each asset

## Stay on brand

Glif gives you several ways to keep every asset consistent, whoever on your team is making it:

| Tool | What it keeps consistent |
| - | - |
| [Agent Memory](../glif-agent/agent-memory.md) | Brand colors, fonts, tone of voice, audiences and rules, applied to every chat |
| [Styles](../creative-tools/styles.md) | A visual look across a whole campaign, even across different models |
| [Characters](../creative-tools/characters.md) | The same on-screen talent in every ad |
| [Skills](../glif-agent/skills.md) | Repeatable workflows, such as "turn a product photo into a full ad set" |

## Set up Glif for your brand

1. **Save your brand kit to memory.** Upload your brand guidelines and logo and ask Glif to remember your colors, fonts, voice and rules.
2. **Choose a house Style** that matches your look.
3. **Add your product photos and logo** as references, and cast [Characters](../creative-tools/characters.md) for talent.
4. **Turn your common jobs into Skills** to easily run them again the same way.
5. **Set spending controls** so big jobs need approval.

## Create your first campaign

1. Start a new chat at [glif.app](https://glif.app).
2. Write a brief: product, audience, goal, channels and formats.
3. Add your product photos, product page link or brand files.
4. Review the first round and ask for changes in the same chat.
5. Download the finished assets for each placement.

**Example brief:** "Launch campaign for our new iced matcha. Audience: commuters 25–40 in NYC. Make 3 static ads at 4:5 and 9:16, a 5-slide Instagram carousel and a 15-second Reel. Use our brand kit. Headline options: 5."

For more examples, browse [glif.app/for-marketers](https://glif.app/for-marketers) and [glif.app/chat/cards](https://glif.app/chat/cards).

## Commercial use

Paid plans and credit packs include commercial usage rights to what you create, subject to each underlying model's license. See [Credits and Payments](https://docs.glif.app/credits-and-payments.md).

## Teams

Each Glif account belongs to one person; there are no shared team workspaces. To keep results consistent across teammates' accounts, keep a written brand kit and copies of your Skill instructions that everyone uses. For enterprise needs, contact [sales@glif.xyz](mailto:sales@glif.xyz).

## Use Glif from your other tools

Use Glif from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI apps with the [Glif MCP server](https://docs.glif.app/MCP.md), or automate production with the [Glif API](https://docs.glif.app/API.md). Both use your Glif account, credits and Library.

## How Glif has changed

If you used Glif before March 2026, it works differently now.

**Before:** Glif was a workflow platform. You built node-based workflows ("spells"), wired up bots and set up multi-step automations yourself.

**Now:** Glif relaunched on early 2026 as a single AI agent with 100+ built-in tools, all in one chat. Instead of building a workflow, you describe what you want and the agent plans and runs the steps for you.

| Old Glif | Glif today |
| :- | :- |
| Build node-based workflows | Describe the result you want in a chat |
| Choose and wire up each model | Glif picks the models for each step |
| Workflow API | Glif MCP server and Glif API |
| Reusable workflows | Skills that come ready-made or that you start from a chat |

**Your old content:** to get a copy of your old workflows, agents, chats or media, email [contact@glif.xyz](mailto:contact@glif.xyz).

**The old workflow API** was retired on May 20, 2026. To use Glif from code or other AI apps, use the Glif MCP server or the Glif API.

## Agent Reference

### Concepts and identifiers

| Concept | Web app | MCP / API field |
| - | - | - |
| Project (chat) | `https://glif.app/chat/<id>` | `projectId` in results; `project_id` in inputs |
| Job (one run of work) | — | `jobId` in results; `job_id` in inputs |
| Asset (saved file) | Library | `assetId`; prefixes `img_`, `vid_`, `aud_`, `doc_` |
| Intelligence tier | Lite, Smart, Genius | `lite`, `smart`, `genius` |
| User skill | `/` picker, Customize page | `list_user_skills`, `get_user_skill` |

### Brand-consistency mechanisms

| Need | Mechanism | Scope |
| - | - | - |
| Brand rules (colors, fonts, voice, do/don't) | User memory | All projects in the account |
| Visual look | Style | Per request |
| Recurring talent | Character | Per request |
| Products, logos | Reference assets (`asset_ids`) | Per request |
| Repeatable production steps | Personal skill, named in the prompt | Per request |
| Campaign continuity | Same `project_id` | Per project |

### Operating rules

* Every `compose_project` call spends credits and starts immediately with no approval step. Confirm scope (asset count, formats, video length) with the user first.
* Describe a whole campaign set (formats, variations, scenes) in one request so it stays in one project and shares context.
* To revise or extend earlier work, pass the existing `project_id`. Without it, Glif starts blank.
* Share the `projectUrl` early so the user can watch progress.
* When the user has a brand skill, name it in the prompt instead of restating brand rules.
* The Glif agent can be wrong about its own pricing, refunds or policies. This documentation and [contact@glif.xyz](mailto:contact@glif.xyz) are authoritative.
