A Skill is a saved workflow Glif can run again and again, the same way every time. For marketing teams, Skills turn your production playbook into one command: “make our standard launch ad set from this product photo,” “resize this ad for every placement,” “turn this blog post into a carousel.”

Built-in marketing skills

Glif comes with skills made by the Glif team. Type / in a chat to see them all. Marketing favorites:

Create your own skill

Ask Glif in a chat. Describe the input, the steps, the outputs and the rules. For example:
“Create a skill called launch-ad-set. Input: one product photo and a product name. Using our brand kit and the Studio Lit Photography style, make 3 static ad concepts with headline options, each in 4:5, 9:16 and 1.91:1, plus one 15-second 9:16 video ad with voiceover and captions. Always put the logo bottom right and end videos on our logo card.”
Glif writes the skill and saves it to your account. Tip: After a campaign comes out well, ask Glif to “turn what we just did into a skill.”

Skill ideas for marketing teams

  • Brand kit: apply your colors, fonts, voice and logo rules to anything
  • Launch ad set: your standard set of formats and concepts for a new product
  • Catalog shots: white-background and lifestyle shots for each SKU, always identical setup
  • Weekly social pack: a set number of posts, Stories and a Reel from a topic or blog post
  • Creative testing: a fixed number of hook or headline variations for an existing ad
  • UGC batch: the same product with several creators and brief types

Run a skill

  • Type / in the composer and choose the skill, or
  • Name it in your message: “Use our launch-ad-set skill on this photo.”

Manage your skills

Find your skills on the Customize page.

Write skills your whole team can rely on

  • Give it a short, clear name.
  • Say what input it expects (product photo, brief, blog post, existing ad).
  • List exact outputs: formats, counts, lengths.
  • Include the brand rules that always apply, or reference your brand kit.
  • Include guardrails: claims to avoid, required legal lines, disclosure text.
  • Set cost-conscious defaults, such as “draft video at 480p unless asked for final.”

Skill tools over MCP

  • Only personal skills are exposed. Built-in Glif skills (Ad Resizer, Instagram Slideshows, Product Studio) are not listed over MCP.
  • Skills can’t be created or edited over MCP.

Running a skill

Name the skill in a compose_project prompt. Glif loads its instructions automatically, so don’t copy them into the prompt.

Discovering brand skills

Before composing marketing work, call list_user_skills (optionally with query: "brand") to find an existing brand or production skill. Prefer it over restating brand rules in the prompt.

Glif skills vs. client skills

A Glif skill runs inside Glif’s agent, server-side, with Glif’s tools and models. A skill in the calling client (for example a Claude skill) runs in that client. To have Glif run a production workflow, store it as a Glif skill and name it in compose_project.
